Originally, the leather Perfecto was designed and conceived to make life easier for these motorcycle enthusiasts. For the front, an offset zipper doubling the thickness of the leather to better protect the torso, a pocket sewn on the right to easily grab change when passing through highway tolls, and snaps to fold down the collar to prevent it from flapping in the wind. The cuffs are zipped to be tightened to prevent air from entering.

Finally, the Perfecto has a belt, ensuring a waist adjustment and fixed to the back by a yoke to keep the jacket on the kidneys. For robustness, Schott's original Perfecto is made from buffalo leather, a rather rigid material to protect the motorcyclist in case of unforeseen events.
